When Planning Their Week

When you try to cram every single task, idea, and obligation into one week, you’re setting yourself up to fail before you’ve even begun.
The result? A never-ending to-do list, constant guilt about what didn’t get done, and a sense that you’re always behind.
What to do instead: Focus on your top 3
Instead of filling your week with everything, try focusing on just your top three priorities.
Ask yourself:
- What would make the biggest difference if it got done this week?
- What would bring the most relief if I ticked it off?
- What’s actually realistic alongside everything else on my plate?
When you give yourself permission to choose three priorities, you’ll feel calmer, clearer, and far more likely to finish what matters.
Keep it flexible
Life doesn’t always follow your colour-coded calendar. That’s why it helps to build in buffer time, white space, and a simple weekly reset, so you’re adjusting as you go, not just reacting.
I used to make beautiful weekly plans, pages full of detailed tasks and colour-coded blocks. But instead of feeling organised, I felt deflated. I’d look back at the end of the week and see how much I hadn’t done.
The shift happened when I gave myself permission to focus on less, and to give myself more room in my week for the inevitable hiccups. Suddenly, I felt lighter, more motivated, and actually finished more work because I wasn’t thrown off when something cropped up unexpectedly (I can’t remember a week where this didn’t happen!)
